D is for Deadbeat

With 3 best sellers under her belt, Sue Grafton, gave her fans another murder mystery featuring Kinsey Millhone. Kinsey, who always seems to be just one paycheck ahead of the poorhouse herself, is understandably angry when she finds she has been stiffed by a client.

Hired by John Limardo to find a missing person and pass on a check for $25,000, Kinsey discovers that the guy's real name is John Daggett and that he is a deadbeat.
Daggett aka Limardo has given Kinsey a bum check which bounces and then – Daggett turns up dead! The police believe that the death was accidental. Kinsey, however, knows that there is more to this mystery than meets the eye.
