An eclectic assortment of guests gather for vacation on an isolated island. Luckily for us, Hercule Poirot is also a guest at the hotel and ready to solve the cold-blooded murder that will soon take place under the warmth of sun.

At the seaside resort off of the coast of England, the 'Jolly Roger' is a deluxe hotel that caters to the upper crust of society. Before we know it the very beautiful Arlena Stewart Marshall is found very dead. Who among the guests could have killed her? Could it be her husband, filled with a jealous rage that he could not contain a moment longer? Or, perhaps, Arlena was killed by her stepdaughter who made no move to conceal her hatred for the women who had stolen her father's affections? Suspects are coming out of the woodwork and it will take the mastermind of Hercule Poirot to sort out the clues and bring the killer to justice in this classic English mystery.

Not only has this book been in constant demand for over 60 years, it has also had several incarnations in various media. In 1982, the book was transformed as a big budget, all-star film with Peter Ustinov as Poirot, Diana Rigg as Arlena Marshall and wonderful character interpretations by Maggie Smith, Roddy McDowall, James Mason, Colin Blakely and Jane Birkin.

In 2001, a television version with David Suchet as Poirot and Hugh Fraser as Hastings debuted and brought legions of new fans to their feet with applause. Subsequently, an audio cassette of the book, read by David Suchet was released. We recommend you read the book in it's original form and then enjoy it on film, video or listen to one of Christie's best mysteries on audio tape.
