Empowered with evil, the murderer taunts Poirot by mailing the Belgian sleuth a series of written clues hinting at the murders he is about to commit. His first victim is Mrs. A. Ascher in Andover. Betty Barnard of Bexhill is the second victim, followed by Mr. Charmichael Clark in Churston. With all these murders coming in alphabetical order will an innocent person linked to the letter 'D' be next? Victims are being killed in alphabetical order and there is a second clue. Beside each corpse the killer is leaving a copy of the ABC Railroad Guide.

With a serial killer on the loose, only Poirot can stop the madman from murdering his next victim. Can he find the clues to stop additional murders from being committed before this terrifying crime spree continues?

This 1936 book was adapted into a film in 1965 titled" The Alphabet Murders" starring Tony Randall. Three decades later, David Suchet would star in the LWT production of the ABC Murders in 1992.
