The Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock's storytelling skills created mystery movie magic. From his early work in Britain to his string of American blockbuster films, Hitchcock directed more than 50 films, many of which have become classic thrillers.

Despite his box office success with amazingly popular films including Vertigo, North by Northwest, Suspicion, Rear Window, Spellbound, Strangers on a Train, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Psycho and The Birds, the only Hitchcock film to earn him an Oscar for Best Director was 1940's Rebecca.

From the mid-1950's, the director became a well known celebrity as he hosted Alfred Hitchcock Presents on television. Hitch would include some humorously ironic commentary at the beginning of each episode which lightened up the macabre story to follow.
